You wanted a neat way to attach your ProFlight inline control box to the aircraft. The PFD32 does that in a clever popup package that looks and feels great.
We set out to give you a functional, stylish and tactile object that feels good, looks good and works well as part of your flightdeck toolkit. The overall design was intended to bring an air of nostalgia, feeling like an old school game cartridge in weight, shape and feel when folded closed.
When the PFD32 is opened, the unfolded design creates a hanger that fits neatly over the Airbus side window spring hook. The Pophook has two folding arms to hang the headset part of the Proflight.
Why two arms? The geometry of the Airbus puts a slight slope on the hooks and, naturally, the headset is best hung on the aft side of the hook where gravity helps to keep it in place and handy should you need it in a hurry.
Two hooks means it's useable for both left and right seat operations.
The PFD32 is constructed using 3D printing - the main material is PET plastic which is stable against UV for years and years, like a drinks bottle.
Inset during the printing is a layer of soft anti-scratch material (highlighted here in grey). Protects your expensive Bose control box from marks.
Fold down the logo flap and pop out the smaller supporting base. Lift up the hugger piece. Now pass the cable through the gap at the front of the hugger and drop your control box into the Pophook.
Now the pophook fits neatly over the Airbus side window column hook and you can then fold down one or both of the side arms.
At the end of your duty, reverse the process and the side arms and logo flap will snap into place thanks to their integrated magnets.
